The UK has particularly low levels of PA compared with other European countries. However, global population levels of PA are insufficient. Age-specific PA recommendations have been formulated, for example, the United Kingdom (UK) government recommends at least 150 min per week of moderate-to-vigorous PA for adults and 60 min per day for children and adolescents aged 5 to 18 years. There is a large body of evidence showing that regular and sustained participation in physical activity (PA) aids in the prevention and management of noncommunicable disease.
